Mr. Louis KOO Tin-lok as the festival ambassador for the fourth consecutive year

The Festival is honored to appoint Mr. Louis KOO Tin-lok as HKIFF41 ambassador. A major talent in the world of films and television, Mr. Louis KOO Tin-lok is regarded as one of Hong Kong’s premier leading men. He is very pleased to support the Festival again as HKIFF41 ambassador, and to help promote this major international film festival and the Hong Kong film industry.

Local designer WONG San Mun as the key art designer

The Festival is pleased to have Mr. WONG San Mun, a talented and experienced graphic designer whose works include Jet Tone films Happy Together (1997), Eros (2004) and 2046 (2004), again as the key art designer of HKIFF41.  Mr. WONG’s design embodies two themes, including Made in Hong Kong (1997) directed by Fruit CHAN and a retrospective of Edward YANG’s films.  The general design continues the idea of simplicity from last year, adding the idea of origami to express “41”.  The symbol “ㄨ”, a numeric system commonly employed in the Southern Sung dynasty representing “4” in Suzhou huama script, is again included as one of the design elements to represent our unique culture and a distinctive code of the city.  In addition, the design pays tribute to late director Edward YANG’s Yi Yi (2000).

WONG said, “I have to search for the similarities of different themes and simplify the content to bring the main theme in the most concise way.  The design is “Made in Hong Kong” as in I am creating it at this city, Hong Kong.”

“In applying different themes and visuals to the key art design, Mr. WONG brings out the uniqueness of the theme through the simple composition of this stylish piece,” said Mr. LI Cheuk-to, the Artistic Director of the HKIFFS.

The HKIFF41 will be held from 11 to 25 April 2017.  The key art is featured on all promotional platforms such as programme and booking folders, the official website, mobile app and etc.
